† Magpie to the Morning

Not much to say lately. ;( All I want to do is lay around and watch How I Met Your Mother. Six seasons on Netflix in six weeks? Challenge accepted. Watching that show makes me miss Manhattan and its oddly cozy bars. The last time I was there was when all the Uniqlo openings were going on -- probably this time last year, actually. I'm due for a Uniqlo trip sans opening weekend madness.

Stay safe and dry, east cost.

And what are you guys listening to lately? I'm really into old school Hole these days and want to try out a Courtney-Love-before-her-face-melted look. I wonder how many people are being Courtney this year for Halloween? Ouch.

† Geography Club

"We just choose a club that's so boring, nobody in their right mind would ever in a million years join it. We could call it Geography Club!"

Have any of you read Geography Club by Brent Hartinger? It's a quick, lovely read, and I hear they're turning it into a movie that'll come out in 2013. I remember reading it in high school, just sitting back against the scotch-taped rows of books wondering if I'd ever have my own geography club. These leggings timewarp me right back there.

Or, if you're less fond of nostalgia than me, wear them to geography class and have a built-in support system for every geography test ever.

† Margiela x H&M

They've released the full lineup for the MMM x H&M collaboration. This is the best collab since Versace, if you ask me.

You can check out the full lineup in a slideshow on R29: http://www.refinery29.com/margiela-hm

I'm all about the candy wrapper and glove clutches, oversized tunic, and the LEATHER BELT JACKET CAN I JUST HAVE THAT.

† Flunked

Servin' up some prep school dropout realness. I love argyle and I've had this sweater for ages. I'll probably wear it until it's falling apart, at which point it'll be grunge, so I can even wear it past then.

I'm saving this outfit for when someone writes the 2024 adaptation of Mean Girls. You know it's gonna happen.

  • spiked headband, Urban Outfitters; everything else is old!

† Sales and finds!

I love poking around in eBay stores based in China/Hong Kong/Taiwan etc. The prices don't make my bank account sad, and there's always something awesome that I come across.

Case in point, $5 ombre tights from xwsm. Free shipping.

Love it. Direct link to the sale page.

Also, Karmaloop has a cool sale going on -- 25% off everything with a Halloween-themed spider web. There were a few things I'd been wanting that I snagged on sale, like The Crush Jacket in black by Civil and UNIF's Death Christian Tee. Happy face for meeeeee.

Outfit post coming soon!

† Pierrot

Black and white, Docs, and purple lipstick! ♥ I want a closet full of Docs, a pair for every color of the rainbow. I love these black patent heeled ones, and bright purple and matte pink 1460s.

Have you guys been watching Face Off this season? It's a special effects makeup/reality competition show. It comes on Syfy in the US, Space in Canada. If you're sans cable like I am, Hulu has the first few episodes of the season up. (I t looks like the Space website has some episodes online if you can't access Hulu.) I'm a science fiction geek, I love art and makeup, so I've watched all three seasons with starry anime eyes. Catch up on this season! I have an interview coming up with Alana Rose Schiro, and she is such a doll. She's an incredible artist with incredible style.

And onto the outfit breakdown...

† Catherine Wheel

Am I asleep in the last picture? I will not say.

I'm still defiantly wearing sleeveless things. I may do this until it snows. After the first snow fall I turn into small creature shrouded by a giant puffy jacket shell. Similar to a snail. Or a turtle.

Another super comfy GoJane dress. I'll probably wear it for the next two weeks. Check the return of the zebra purse and the snake girl necklace. It's like I'm accessorizing with the Animal Planet.

Any Glee fans? (Let's be real, the only people who say "Gleeks" are people who aren't fans.) Santana Lopez wore this same vest in the episode "Born This Way" from season 2.

Did I get it because of her?

Yep.

† 10,000 Days

GoJane just wrapped up a dress sale, so I got this cotton dress in a few colors in a whim. So glad I did; I have LIVED in this dress since I took it out the box. It's insanely comfortable and soft and opaque and everything I've ever wanted in life and/or death, short of someone giving me a university diploma without me having to go to class to get it. As far as size, order up -- this is a medium and I'm sure it'll shrink in terror as soon as I bring it near a washer/dryer.

It's fall break! ... Everyone else at work took it off before I realized what was going on, so I work every day! It's cool. I'll take this one for the team. Any suggestions for stay-cation activities?

† Peachy

I didn't originally intend to blog this outfit -- it was kind of my lazy day go-to. I went to class and got a ton of compliments on the sweater, so I was surprised and happy and here it is. I picked up the sweater for $3 in the kid's section of H&M. Maybe it was originally supposed to be a dress? It's really loose and comfy.

Some of my favorite jewelry pieces with this outfit. I picked up the snake ballerina lady at a NYC street fair. She's just so odd and charming. The bull ring is by Wildfox. It comes in white too and I want ittttt. I didn't get a close up of it, but the spike bracelet is a gift from a friend that I am besotted with. (The bracelet, not the friend. But the friend is awesome.)

  • sweater, H&M
  • jeans, Forever 21
  • jewelry, Wildfox, assorted
  • brown kitten heels, Target
