† Futurescapes

(wearing x-ray shift dress by COREY, patent leather boots by dr martens)

Greetings from sunny LA! Coming from the snowy doom-filled depths of Utah, I had never imagined a world where I could lounge on the beach in a swimsuit in March, but it's happening. Actually, I had never even imagined a world where I liked the beach (all that sun eww) but these days I'm constantly pestering people to go with me.

Though just like the dog that probably can't change its spots, I'll still be there in all black.

I've started watching Bates Motel and this mini dress totally reminds me of it: I love the electric blue against black. The composition book is actually a tablet case -- so cute.  I've been using the LG G Pad 7.0 tablet lately since it's much more purse-friendly than an iPad or laptop.

Photography by the ever lovely TAPPERINTO.

† Décollage

I was listening to Adam Lambert as I got dressed this morning and I ended up with so much black eyeshadow on. They should consider putting a sticker warning for that on his albums. Parental Advisory: Explicitly Fierce Content. May cause unexpected strutting?

I've been married to this cardigan since I got it a few weeks ago. I had been eyeing it on PLNDR, then I pounced when they had one of their (many!) promo sales. They advertise PLNDR as "members only" to make it seem exclusive -- it's really not? You just have to make an account to do anything, which seems about par for the course for most sites.

Oh, PLNDR, you and your convenient mobile app bring so many packages to my door.

As always, I'm a Karmaloop rep (PLNDR is part of the fam) and "amenfashionxx" will get you 20% off. Cool!

† Denim CAT$

This sweater is a big hit with the kids. (And anyone on hallucinogens, probably? Selective neon pink floating cats. Trippy.) I'm pleased to present the first and only pair of blue jeans I own. I've got respect for the classic denim jean, but it's not really spiked / gauzy / oversized enough to be a mainstay in my closet. In fact, these jeans are so old they're from Anchor Blue, which is so not even a thing anymore. Does anyone remember that place? If I had to guess, I'd pin their purchase date around 2005, which makes them less than a decade old!

Speaking of decade-old clothing, the Converse I almost wore with this outfit made their debut into my life in 2001. Those shoes have spent more time in class than some grade school students.

Three cheers for unretouched clear skin! Despite Dove's questionable marketing techniques -- check out Refinery 29's article on their new "photoshop app" if you haven't already -- their bar soap is all I'll use on my skin. Everyone has their sworn makeup routine; there's mine.

† Pierrot

Black and white, Docs, and purple lipstick! ♥ I want a closet full of Docs, a pair for every color of the rainbow. I love these black patent heeled ones, and bright purple and matte pink 1460s.

Have you guys been watching Face Off this season? It's a special effects makeup/reality competition show. It comes on Syfy in the US, Space in Canada. If you're sans cable like I am, Hulu has the first few episodes of the season up. (I t looks like the Space website has some episodes online if you can't access Hulu.) I'm a science fiction geek, I love art and makeup, so I've watched all three seasons with starry anime eyes. Catch up on this season! I have an interview coming up with Alana Rose Schiro, and she is such a doll. She's an incredible artist with incredible style.

And onto the outfit breakdown...

what i'm wearing † oh cloudy world

one of the caveats of fa-shun blah-ging is that you start to second- and third-guess what you wear. i'm in sort of a rut as far as ~inspiration~ goes, so i tried to pick a theme for this coordinate.

... no, it wasn't pastel lisa frank. it was national donut day. duh. i might've missed the mark as far as, uh, translating a donut into clothes, but i like the color combination and i love any excuse to wrap a sweater around the waist. it's like a belt but much more practical.

i also think i've finished my weekly hair-color-changes -- at least for a month or two. i see everyone doing the ombre thing, fade dark to light, and i always kinda wince imagining how much they spent getting that done in a salon. for better or for worse, i do everything cosmetic myself. i was trying for a blond-to-pink fade, and i think it worked? i like it!
