† 10,000 Days

GoJane just wrapped up a dress sale, so I got this cotton dress in a few colors in a whim. So glad I did; I have LIVED in this dress since I took it out the box. It's insanely comfortable and soft and opaque and everything I've ever wanted in life and/or death, short of someone giving me a university diploma without me having to go to class to get it. As far as size, order up -- this is a medium and I'm sure it'll shrink in terror as soon as I bring it near a washer/dryer.

It's fall break! ... Everyone else at work took it off before I realized what was going on, so I work every day! It's cool. I'll take this one for the team. Any suggestions for stay-cation activities?

† Peachy

I didn't originally intend to blog this outfit -- it was kind of my lazy day go-to. I went to class and got a ton of compliments on the sweater, so I was surprised and happy and here it is. I picked up the sweater for $3 in the kid's section of H&M. Maybe it was originally supposed to be a dress? It's really loose and comfy.

Some of my favorite jewelry pieces with this outfit. I picked up the snake ballerina lady at a NYC street fair. She's just so odd and charming. The bull ring is by Wildfox. It comes in white too and I want ittttt. I didn't get a close up of it, but the spike bracelet is a gift from a friend that I am besotted with. (The bracelet, not the friend. But the friend is awesome.)

daily steals † your eyes lie

lately i'm really into your eyes lie, a sort of wildfox meets andy warhol meets... something unique to them that i can't quite place. i have yet to own any pieces, but there are a few affordable ones traveling through the ethers.

$27.95 † The Lying Since Top

$21.95 † The Hol Girl Tee

these are definitely on the less affordable side of things, but they're so cool i have to mention them..

you can check out their main website here: youreyeslie.com.

what i'm wearing † oh cloudy world

one of the caveats of fa-shun blah-ging is that you start to second- and third-guess what you wear. i'm in sort of a rut as far as ~inspiration~ goes, so i tried to pick a theme for this coordinate.

... no, it wasn't pastel lisa frank. it was national donut day. duh. i might've missed the mark as far as, uh, translating a donut into clothes, but i like the color combination and i love any excuse to wrap a sweater around the waist. it's like a belt but much more practical.

i also think i've finished my weekly hair-color-changes -- at least for a month or two. i see everyone doing the ombre thing, fade dark to light, and i always kinda wince imagining how much they spent getting that done in a salon. for better or for worse, i do everything cosmetic myself. i was trying for a blond-to-pink fade, and i think it worked? i like it!

  • blouse and sweater, from the depths of my closet
  • jeans, forever 21
  • white patent boots, dr. martens
  • metallic bracelets, lia sophia
  • silver and pink ring, guess
  • plastic block ring, h&m

alter ego † how to wear your childhood

Apparently it's a little bit pricey to turn your childhood into accessories, but these pieces are so neat looking that I almost don't mind.

or if superheros are more up your alley, there's always the option to hang them around your neck.

but my veeeryyyy favorite? DINOSAUR EARRINGS.

i think these would make a fun DIY project if you had the time and inclination. i need a headband with little marching dinosaurs on it ok.

daily steals † lana del rey style

this post is furnished courtesy of the nordstrom half-yearly sale. i'm going to be honest, i'm a little eyebrow-raisey over half-yearly. is that different from biannual? what is yearly and why do we only want half of it? what about the other half of the yearly? if it's yearly, why is it half? i understand yearly sales, and i understand half-year sales, but if it's half it can't be yearly too.

these are the things that keep me awake at night.

the good news is that there are a lot of cute finds in this mysterious sale. i present them to you now.

i love the sheer, chiffon trend this summer. it makes me want to do my hair in loose curls and pretend like i'm lana del rey. just without all the relationship drama. i have enough going on between remembering to feed my cats and showing up to work on time.

two bandeaus for the price of one! unfortunately, i don't think that means you get to wash it half as often too.

now for some candy-sweet accesories.

daily steals † metallic & studs & a bit of casual

all of my favorite things are in this post: fringe, studs, leather, sequins, metallics, spikes. just bury my body in a box of those, k. cut up madonna's early 80's wardrobe and put my corpse on it when i die. none of that "bury me in saaaatin, lay me down on a bed of roooseesss" no. fringey studded leather or i'm coming back to haunt you guys.

pro-tip: if you're trying to stand out in a classy way, go with a silver or gold shoe. it's fun and bold and almost always looks expensive. i just picked up a pair of silver slip-ons for $3 at a thrift store, but if i hadn't i would be all over these:
$15GET IT

i suspect the reason this dress is on sale is because it doesn't photograph that well. the back is adorable, and on close-up view, the sequin pattern is very intricate. (it would look cute with the pewter shoes, just sayin' y'all.)
$15 GET IT (Available in small only.)

spiky gold dangly ear hooks? yeeesss, it's like they know all of my weaknesses. these come as a pair, and truth be told, i think it's overkill to wear both at the same time. i'd rock just one at a time. despite being "ear hooks," there's probably a lot you can do with them -- tuck them in a clip for a hair accessory, hook it from a belt loop or handbag... (SIIIGGH i really want these.)
$9GET IT

studs are in right now, but what's also true is that studs and leather are never going to be out of fashion. ask the ghost of sid vicious. studded leather is iconic. it's always going to be stylishly edgy. what makes this find even more rad (besides being less than $25) is that no cute cows were skinned in the making of this handbag. vegan leather for the win!
$24GET IT

bonus find:
this is so versatile and comfy-looking. you could wear it with tights and a blazer for a dressier look, with sandals and a hobo bag for beach-casual, or ... any number of ways, really.
$27 †  GET IT (Available in large only.)

daily steals † pamela love

can i be pamela love when i grow up? for real, i need this to happen. not only is this bitch classy, successful, and creative, but she's hot too.

LOOK AT HER. (the only con i can think of: she has to deal with journalists and reporters making cutesy puns from her last name. poor girl.) she went to tisch, she's inspired by hieronymous bosch, and she's even too cool for me to call her out on having hipster tattoos.

http://www.pamelalovenyc.com/collections/
i would sacrifice small children in the name of fashion to get that cuff on my arm. .... but with the awesome of her designs comes way too many zeros after the dollar sign. i've hunted down some of the more affordable pamela love designs -- and here they are.
