what i'm wearing † think of me as programmable soda

i was in dire need of a haircut so i sat down with a pair of kitchen scissors and took a few inches off my hair. no regrets, and $20+ saved. if i was to have a style maxims, they'd be something like: 1) when in doubt, overdress. 2) diy before you pay to have someone else do it. 3) never ever sleep in makeup oh my gosh do not do it ever do you understand ok NEVERRRRR.

it's the kind of hot outside right now where you can see the heat rising from the pavement. long days, lots of sunlight, sleep as a series of cat naps. time slows down and gives you all the reason you need to take long walks just because.

since we haven't figured out how to encapsulate that feeling, i'll just listen to "call me maybe" a lot so i can play it later in winter and trick myself into thinking that it's warm outside. i'm totally programmable like that.

  •  geo print bodysuit, Motel
  •  boots, Franco Sarto
  • spiked tan headband, Urban Outfitters
  • fringe purse, H&M

the lovely Kimber Rose snapped these shots for me. click on her name to check out her insanely gorgeous art.

what i'm wearing † lazy sunday

i've had a short day followed by a very long night. this was a pretty bright outfit as far as my personal style is concerned, so it was nice to transition this sort of crisp, breezy outfit into the evening. maybe it's a sign that i could use some more color in my wardrobe?

(... nah.)

oops :x

i just accidentally deleted all of my comments. (... glad i know what that button does now.) sorry! i appreciate the time you take in commenting and i love getting them. keep leaving them! i always check out your blogs and feeds.

what i'm wearing † crossroads at second

one day i'll touch up my fingernail polish. clearly, that day is not today. .. it's probably not tomorrow either.

as i tweeted earlier, from now on i only wear shoes that also function as deadly weapons. these platforms i picked up from karmaloop for a shamefully low price are a prime example of my new manifesto.

i've had these soft grey pants for forever and a day, and i will wear them until they fall apart on me. (they're already starting to -- eeeeek.) i've worn the slip/dress before with this outfit, but this time i've tied it up for a more slouchy look.

daily steals † your eyes lie

lately i'm really into your eyes lie, a sort of wildfox meets andy warhol meets... something unique to them that i can't quite place. i have yet to own any pieces, but there are a few affordable ones traveling through the ethers.

$27.95 † The Lying Since Top

$21.95 † The Hol Girl Tee

these are definitely on the less affordable side of things, but they're so cool i have to mention them..

you can check out their main website here: youreyeslie.com.

† The Unwavering Fact of Tomorrow

  • dir en grey tour tshirt, direngrey.co.jp
  • print leggings, forever 21
  • fringe faux leather purse, h&m
  • floppy hat, old navy
  •  leather boots, franco sarto  this is a really relaxed, go-to outfit for me. leggings are inexpensive and comfortable, black boots go with everything, and i have enough band tees to wear one every day for weeks.

i didn't think it was interesting enough to post, but as i was walking to the store i got stopped on the street twice and told, "hey, you look cool!" so it made it here anyway.

what i'm wearing † it's more couture if you don't smile

i tried to keep a straight face for these and failed so much. maybe i'll try smizing next time.

  • blouse, forever 21, $3.99
  • striped jean, motel, $43.49
  • tan bootie, endless, $21.00
  • bracelets, forever 21 & lia sophia
the day before i wore something that i literally had to be taped into to ensure everyone's general safety, so i wanted something comfortable and relaxed today. i snagged these pants from motel's 24 hour sale on asos. i dithered back and forth over whether not to get them, initially, but i'm glad i did. they're comfortable! and stripey! the shoes are a very lucky purchase -- they might even deserve their own post.

thierry mugler † amen's unofficial scent

$78 † Alien by Thierry Mugler

the first thing worth noting about the thierry mugler scent collection is that THE BOTTLES ARE NEAT. they look expensive and kitsch and fun all at once. alien is a more functional design than angel -- and both are miles above a*men in terms of appearance. true story, when i went to pick up angel, it took a moment to figure out how to hold it.

user error? maybe.

$50 † Angel by Thierry Mugler
(that picture makes the angel design look deceptively simple. just sayin'.)

scent is tricky for me -- i can't handle scented laundry detergent or lotion or what have you, so i'm going to pass on giving commentary on how the perfume smells. i'd leave it at "pretty bottles! yay thierry mugler!" were it not for...

$58 † A*men by Thierry Mugler

i didn't realize it was called a*men until i was looking it up later, then i had no choice but to wallow in a moment of serendipity. i LOVED the way this smelled. i hereby declare it the (un)official scent of amen fashion. i wish the bottle (flask?) was more attractive, but i suppose it's a different game when packaging cologne.

overall: the women's fragrances are nice to look at, but i'd wash them off. i want a*men. now.

what i'm listening to † lmfao, emeli sande, etc

emeli sande, chairlift, and the shins are maybe the best stuff that's come out this summer. madonna and hole have my nostalgia buttons jammed.... and really, no one needs a justification for lmfao. ever.

what i'm wearing † oh cloudy world

one of the caveats of fa-shun blah-ging is that you start to second- and third-guess what you wear. i'm in sort of a rut as far as ~inspiration~ goes, so i tried to pick a theme for this coordinate.

... no, it wasn't pastel lisa frank. it was national donut day. duh. i might've missed the mark as far as, uh, translating a donut into clothes, but i like the color combination and i love any excuse to wrap a sweater around the waist. it's like a belt but much more practical.

i also think i've finished my weekly hair-color-changes -- at least for a month or two. i see everyone doing the ombre thing, fade dark to light, and i always kinda wince imagining how much they spent getting that done in a salon. for better or for worse, i do everything cosmetic myself. i was trying for a blond-to-pink fade, and i think it worked? i like it!

  • blouse and sweater, from the depths of my closet
  • jeans, forever 21
  • white patent boots, dr. martens
  • metallic bracelets, lia sophia
  • silver and pink ring, guess
  • plastic block ring, h&m
  • mauve stone bracelet, kafkakisses by olivia lufkin

alter ego † how to wear your childhood

Apparently it's a little bit pricey to turn your childhood into accessories, but these pieces are so neat looking that I almost don't mind.

or if superheros are more up your alley, there's always the option to hang them around your neck.

but my veeeryyyy favorite? DINOSAUR EARRINGS.

i think these would make a fun DIY project if you had the time and inclination. i need a headband with little marching dinosaurs on it ok.
